Tug Boats...

On our way down to Portland a few weekends ago Kev and I stopped by Tidewater in Vancouver. This is where the company Kev works for is based out of and where their main port is. Tug boating was VERY new to me when he started this job. I had no idea what it entailed. It has been fun learning about what he does and getting a better understanding of it all. They push things (fuel, grain, garbage, wood chips, ect...) up and down the Columbia River. I am still learning but it was fun to go down there and I got in a few pics too =] Kev really enjoys his job and we are very grateful he has it!

This is one of the barges they push. It was just empty sitting at the dock.

And this is one of the tug boats (I don't remember which one.) I can't go down and get on any of them cause of rules but hopefully someday I will get to tour the inside of the boat where my husband literally spend half his life!

Spring Break!

While Kevin was at work I got to go home for Spring Break. It was great to see my family =] It was a very busy week...but I had so much fun!!!
The week started with the long drive to Burns! Then I drove to LaGrande on Saturday the 21st for my best friend, Amaya's, graduation! She got engaged..YAY! It was great to catch up with her and her fiance, Andy =]
Then I headed back to Burns...in snow =[Not much but still..snow in March! Spent a couple days at home with my mom, dad and the little girls. I got to take the little girls down to the barn to feed baby calves. Calving season is in full swing at home! Shaylee fell off the kitchen table and we thought she might have broke her arm. Poor thing didn't use it for three days but the x-rays were clear. No damage done!
On Wednesday we headed to Boise to go dress shopping for Shery! After three stores and ALOT of dresses...she found the PERFECT dress =] And amazingly her entourage of women (mom, aunt, cousins, sisters...) ALL agreed! We got alot done for the wedding and it was fun for everyone to get together.
We made it home Friday. Spent Saturday helping dad and then that night we went to Grandma Root's house to have a little birthday party. My cousins, Adam (24) and Becky (22) , and myself (23). We have all celebrated our birthdays together since birth...and grandma brought out the old home videos to prove it! It was alot of fun seeing everyone. Although I can't believe how old we are all getting!
That night my dad and I left at midnight and drove to Longview. He had to pick up a truck he had bought at an auction so he drove me car over the Mountain and I made it home about 8:30 Sunday morning...completely exhausted! I had a great break and it was so good to see everyone!

Opening birthday presents with my two helpers. My mom got me some super cute things for our house!!! And Twilight =] (I just finished the last book!)

Oh the month of March...

This month is going by WAY to fast! Kevin had meetings all last week in Vancouver and today is already the 15th. We have had some beautiful weather on the coast this last week but the rain and wind came this weekend. We got to spend the first weekend of the month down in Salem with my family. It was the 3A State Tourney and Burns girls won the title =] We all got to watch Shelb! It was fun having everyone together. Aunt Vicki, Lynsi and Kelsi were all there too. Becca was a life saver and did Kevin and my taxes. And I might add that she is still tiny with just over 5 weeks to go! Knappa boys also won the State Title that weekend in Pendleton. It was too bad we couldn't watch them both.
My parents gave us their old couch and chair that are currently living in Shery's garage. I am very excited to get them and have been searching for slip covers.
While I am very excited about next week and getting to go home for Spring Break - I am dreading my dentist appt. on Wednesday =[ I leave for Burns Thursday though and get to spend ten days there. We are making a trip over to Boise and staying with Uncle Steve and Aunt Vicki for a few days. We get to go dress shopping with Shery. Except Shey will be in New York =] Having the time of her life...I'm sure.
Life is busy but wonderful!

Dad with his big girls! Missing the two munchkins.

Me and Shelb =]

Sisters! Shey keeps dying her hair darker so I don't look like such an odd ball with my dark hair anymore =]

Clam Diggin Day...=]

Some of our Clams =]

Kev avoiding the camera...

Clam Diggin!

It was a beautiful sunset...

It has been awhile...life has been busy but not much new going on. Kev has stayed busy with work...which we are very grateful for. And he has stayed busy around the house on his time off! He has been working on our lawn and flower beds. I started working more hours at my job and have stayed busy with girls basketball. There are only a few weeks left in our season. We had our six month anniversary last week. Can't believe its been six months...time sure flies! Our nephew Bryce turned one this week and today is Shaylee's 4th birthday! It seems like we just brought her home from China!

We have had gorgeous weather this past week and Saturday Kev took me clam diggin. One of our first dates he took me and I have never had much luck! I am very proud to say that yesterday I FINALLY got my limit! All 15 clams =] We had alot of fun! I took some pictures although Kev hates my camera and usually runs the second I pull it out! So needless to say I didn't get too many...

Our Holiday Season!

We hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year! We were very blessed! We got to spend Christmas with Kevin's family and then he had to go back to work and I was able to spend a week with my family in McCall, ID. The snow wasn't as good for snowmobiling as it usually is and we spent the entire first day stuck! It did get better tho =] We went ice skating and ended the trip taking all the kids sleding.
Kevin and I did get to have our first WHITE Christmas together in Knappa and I loved it! I started school again this week after having three weeks off! It was nice to go back to work. I got all the Christmas decorations taken down and Kev took down the lights. Its all put away in boxes waiting for next year! The snow is all melted away now and the rain has begun...it will defintely be an adjustment for me!

Snow Days!

Growing up in Eastern Oregon I have had one snow day that I can remember... I have been in Knappa for about five months now and we have had four snow days this week!!! You would think it would be the opposite..who knew?!? I never thought I would have a white Christmas on the coast...but keep your fingers crossed cause it just might happen =) I have had basically the whole week off and been able to bake cookies, wrap presents and get our house cleaned! It has been fun to have a home for the holidays. Kevin and I will be here for Christmas with his family and then I will leave for home the day after Christmas to go McCall with my family! I can't wait!!! I will miss being home for Christmas but I am grateful I get to spend it with Kevin and his family.

Our backyard...it is so beautiful here with all the trees covered in snow!

My double batch of sugar cookies waiting to be frosted for a cookie exchange!

Our first Christmas Tree...and my first real tree! Kev cut it down for me and we got to decorate it together!

Happy Holidays to everyone...we are truly blessed with amazing famlies and friends!

After getting settled in our house we got to host the Root Family Thanksgiving...which I am sure many of you know from Mom's Christmas card (which was mailed prior to Thanksgiving!). We had so much fun and were so grateful my family was able to come down. Kevin was able to get off the boat and be here which was a blessing =) Even tho it was a FULL house we loved having everyone here. We got some great news...Skye and Becca are expecting baby number two! They are due April with another little boy! We had a great weekend and ended it with Knappa (Kevin's old High School) winning the 2A State Football Championship and our family getting to go to the Portland Zoo lights together!
