Poor baby...

Yesterday my baby boy had his circumcision. Maybe not the best thing to "blog" about but it was horrible. And this is basically my journal because I am a total failure at keeping a real journal so I am going to vent...I hated every second of it. I couldn't (personal choice) stay in the room (either could daddy...) we waited in the hall. The doctor and nurse were great...but what a bad experience. Hearing his heart wrenching screams made me cry, then seeing it made me cry, and then when I changed his first diaper I started crying again. I could tell he was in so much pain. He hasn't really been a "cryer" so these screams are just horrible. I truly think seeing your little one in pain has got to be one of the worst feelings ever. We had a long night but on a positive note he is doing much better today! Diaper changes are still no fun =( But he has been much more content today. This was a pic of him sqeezing my finger on our way home from the doctor...poor guy.

Hopefully he will be back to normal soon! I know it was probably worse on me then is was on him but it was definately a traumatizing day for mom. Next week is our last week of staying home before the crazy summer begins! We are going to Burns next weekend for Shelby's graduation (YAY!)...then I will be starting grad school, we have a family reunion in Sun River (can't wait!), a two week trip planned to Burns in July, and planning a baby shower for my best friend. It will be a fun and eventful summer!
Right now I am just hoping for some sunshine on the coast so I can get outside and get rid of the baby weight =) He was worth every pound and stretch mark but I would like to fit into my old clothes! And sometime soon would be nice...

Mason Roger Maki

Our little guy is finally here! Mason was born on May 7th at 1:40 a.m. He was 7 lbs 2 oz and 20 1/4 in long. I am too lazy to post the pics so just click on the picture and it will take you to an online album =)

If you are interested in the story its kind of a long one but has a happy ending! I started having contractions on Wednesday afternoon after my doctor appointment. As the day went on they got much closer together and MUCH more painful. At about one in the morning I decided it was time to go the hospital...we got there and the started monitoring me and baby. My contractions were less the five min apart and quite strong but I wasn't making any progress. I was still at 2 cm...=( They had a walk around the hospital for an hour. No luck there...still no progress. They gave me a shot of pain meds and sent us home to sleep. That didn't happen! They said to come back in the morning if the contractions had not slowed down. So at about ten we went back in...same story. My contractions were getting worse and worse but no progress. They had us walk around the hospital again...no luck still. Then they sent me over to the womens center to see my doctor and have her strip my membranes. When she checked me I had finally made it to 4 cm so she sent me right back to the hospital. The rest is kind of a blur for me...I was in so much pain. They wanted to wait til I was further along to give me drugs but I wasn't going past 4 cm. Finally they gave me an epidural around 8 p.m. I went from a 4 to a 10 in less then an hour and they had me start puching just before 9 p.m. They said he was really low and they could see his head and that we would have our baby within the next hour. WRONG! I pushed and pushed and pushed!!! A little after midnight they had me stop pushing and rest for awhile. I looked good the baby looked good but he just wasn't really wanting to come out. Around 1 a.m. his heart rate started to drop...the nurses called my doctor back in. Everyone was panicing...not a good thing. They started screaming at me to push and gave me pitocin to speed up the contractions. The cord was around his neck and his heart rate kept dropping. I don't remember much...I was exhausted and pushed until I literally could not push anymore. Then he finally came out...this is the good part right?! No, I keep waiting to hear him scream and nothing. My husband had a horrible look on his face and I started to panic. I was basically hysterical wondering why my baby wasn't making any noise. They took him away and I had no clue what was going on. He had come out not breathing and white as a ghost. The cord was short and wrapped around his neck. He wasn't getting air or enough blood. Kev went with him while the put him on oxygen and iv's (which took about ten pokes...poor guy.) and my mom came in with me while the sewed me up. He was born at 1:40 and I didn't see him until 5:30...longest four hours of my life. The nurses printed out a picture and brought it in to me. He was off oxygen by the next morning and had to stay on iv's for a few days. When we finally did get to hold him once he was off the oxygen it was the most amazing moment. I have never felt such love and relief and joy all at once. We stayed in the hospital a few days but got to come home on Mother's Day. The perfect gift...a healthy baby boy that we finally got to bring home. I know things could have turned out much worse...we are so thankful for the great doctors and nurses that took care of us. It was such a scary experience and our prayers were truly answered. Mason is just perfect...we love him so much! We are so grateful for our families and the support that they were. My mom came and stayed for two weeks and I was so sad to see her go...I don't know if I could have got through that night without her. We are home...life couldn't get any better. I have yet to catch up on sleep but I guess I will in 18 years =) After 30 hours of labor 4 hours of pushing and quite possible the worst pain I have ever experienced...I would do it all again in a second for this amazing little boy. He is definately worth it! I am truly blessed with an amazing husband (who has taken such good care of me and is such a great daddy!) and a beautiful son!

Waiting...waiting...waiting...

I am officially 40 weeks...and no baby! I never thought that I would be "over-due!" We are just waiting for our little guy to decide to meet the world. My mom and Shaylee came on Saturday. My dad's good friend flew them here...38 min flight verse a 7 hour drive...they got pretty lucky! We are very happy they are here. It has made the time go by a little faster. We are trying to stay busy...as busy as a nine month pregnant lady can be that is. We took them clam digging but the weather didn't cooperate too well. Kev got his limit but the girls spent most our time in the truck. And Kev took Shaylee fishing...she had a great time! But she is totally grossed out by the fish...

Shay helping Kev...making some funny faces!
Cleaning their catch...
This was her attempt at touching the fish...it is as close as she got!
Fishing Buddies...
Shay down at the beach "clam fishing"...as she likes to call it!

She is pretty darn cute and quite entertaining! I wish I had a quarter of her energy...she never slows down. We don't know how my parents do it. Kev told me last night he hopes Mason doesn't have quite that much energy! Shaylee has been wearing him out.
Hopefully our next post will be about our baby boy FINALLY deciding to come out! We are very excited and very ready!!!

37 weeks and counting...

Is it time yet?!? I am so very ready for Mason to get here! I was 37 weeks yesterday...3 weeks til my due date! But I am really hoping he decides to come a little early! I had a doctor appt today. It was long...they stress me out every time for nothing. I hate when they tell me all these things are "wrong" but then they just send me home. My blood pressure is up, I am retaining too much water and I am having some contractions. But after an hour on the monitors they said Mason looks good so they sent me home with instructions to get off my feet (basically put me on bed rest...not strict...but no house work, I need to be laying down as much as possible and I can't lift over 5lbs?!?). It will be a long few weeks...especially since my husband left for work this morning!
In the end as long as we are both healthy that is all that matters...but I just wish the end would hurry up and get here! I don't know if I could sound more pathetic but I feel pretty darn pathetic at this point!
I do think my tummy has finally slowed down...now he just looks like he is dropping! Which is a good thing...=)

Happy Birthday...

Today was my birthday...my husband surprised me with a new camera! I LOVE it! I am so excited to take pictures of our little man (when he finally decides to come!). My mother gave him some direction and help in getting the camera (THANKS MOM!). He gave it to me earlier this week and I have had fun trying to figure out how to use it. He took me fishing with him a few days and I got some pics of him and Molly. Mason will be a piece of cake to take pics of compared to Miss Molly! She is so full of energy and NEVER stands still!

I love the last one...she look so sweet!

Home.Sweet.Home

I was able to spend the last ten days in Burns at my parents. It was such a great trip...minus the driving seven hours part! I didn't do much but it was nice to just be home and relax. And with five sisters in the house...there is never a dull moment. Mom took good care of me...so nice to not have to do laundry and cook and clean! Dad made me breakfast quite a few mornings since I can't sleep and would be up at four or five in the morning when he was leaving! It was a great trip and I am so happy I was able to go. I came home with a car load of stuff...thanks to a great baby shower =) The weather was quite interesting...woke up to snow a few mornings and had a winter storm warning the day I came home! Have to love Harney County spring weather...
I am home now...unpacked and washing baby clothes! My husband will be home in a few hours and I can't wait! I have seen him 4 of the past 45 days! Its been a long few weeks. I am also 35 weeks today...5 weeks left (although I am praying for him to come a little early!). Doctors appointment tomorrow...and now I will be going weekly. Its getting close...YAY!

Don't mind the expression...I guess I was concentrating!
